Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Terry Kleisinger
Netminder Terry Kleisinger appeared in four games for the New York Rangers in 1985-86. His pro career never materialzed after an outstanding tenure in college.

The native of Regina, Saskatchewan, spent four years at the University of Wisconsin under coach "Badger" Bob Johnson. He played ninety games for the Badgers between 1980 and 1984 and recorded nine shutouts. The Rangers hoped to bring him along slowly and make him a fixture on the team by the late '80s.

Kleisinger's NHL dreams were put on hold when he was forced to miss the entire 1984-85 season due to a yearlong battle with mononucleosis. He recorded a 4.40 goals-against average during his four appearances with the Rangers in 1985-86. That year he also toiled for the IHL's Flint Spirits and Toledo Goaldiggers as well as the New Haven Nighthawks of the AHL. Kleisinger's workload was reduced to seven games the following year before he retired.
