Netminder Claude Legris played a few games for the Detroit Red Wings in the early 80s. Most of his success game in junior and various minor leagues.

Born in Verdun, Quebec, Legris was taken 120th overall by Detroit after making nearly 200 appearances in four seasons with the Sorel Eperviers of the QMJHL. His best year was 1975-76 when he played 67 games and was named to the East Division second all-star team. He then played briefly with the senior Campbellton Tigers and Bathurst Alpines before joining the IHL's Kalamazoo Wings in 1978-79.

Apart from three appearances in Motown, Legris continued to work in the minors until retiring in 1983. In 1980-81 he recorded five shutouts and a 3.07 goals against average for Kalamazoo. At the end of the year he was named to the league's first all-star team and shared the James Norris Memorial trophy with Georges Gagnon for allowing the fewest goals in the "I". Legris retired in 1983 after playing 32 games for the Adirondack Red Wings of the AHL.
