Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Mike Sands
Netminder Mike Sands played a few games for the Minnesota North Stars in the mid-80s. He was better known as a solid performer in junior and the minors.

Born in Mississauga, Ontario, Sands was a junior standout with the Sudbury Wolves and was taken 31st overall by Minnesota in 1981. He also played for Canada at the 1983 World Junior Championships and began his pro career in the Central League with the Birmingham South Stars and Salt Lake Golden Eagles.

Apart from a couple of short term recalls by the North Stars, Sands was a reliable backstopper on the Springfield Indians of the AHL. He eventually joined the Canadian national team for a year before retiring in 1989.
