Born in Smithtown, New York, goaltender Paul Skidmore played his Junior hockey in his home state with the Suffolk Ducks. After four seasons with the Ducks he joined Boston College for four more years and was twice and All-Star and was also named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team in 1978. Skidmore, who was born on July 22nd, 1956, turned pro in 1979 playing the year in the International League then spent the next campaign in the Central League with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles. His third year of pro, the 1981-82 season saw Skidmore back between the pipes for the Golden Eagles, but he was also summoned by the St. Louis Blues for some action as well.

Skidmore, who was born on July 22nd, 1956 and was a St. Louis draft pick twenty years later, played two games for them during the 1981-82 season. He managed a split record with one win and one loss then returned to the minor leagues where he spent the rest of his career.

Skidmore played three more years, though after playing a full schedule with the Golden Eagles in 1982-83, Skidmore moved on to the Carolina Thunderbirds then made a one game stop with the Montana Magic. During his final season he played just one game, back with the Golden Eagles, before retiring from the game in 1985.

After eight years away from the game Skidmore returned to the game, in roller hockey form, in 1993 when he suited up for the Utah RollerBees for seven games.
