Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Doug Stevenson
Netminder Doug Stevenson played a handful of games for the Chicago Black Hawks and New York Rangers in the 40s. He was best known as a workhorse in the minors for over a decade.

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan Stevenson played junior with the Edmonton Athletic Club. In 1942-43 he joined Chicago as its spare goaltender and eventually signed with the Rangers. Stevenson played 20 games for the New York Rovers of the Eastern League in 1944-45 and played four NHL contests for the Blueshirts. In March of that year he was loaned to Chicago to replace injured starter Mike Karakas and recorded a win and loss in two appearances.

Stevenson played a couple of games for the Hawks in 1945-46 then settled in for a solid minor league career. He played his best hockey for the Tacoma Rockets of the PCHL in the 40s and 50s and was a two time all-star and led the league with 34 wins in 1949-50. The veteran backstopper retired in 1956 after playing with the WHL's Calgary Stampeders.
