Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Steve Valiquette
Born in Etobicoke, Ontario Stephen Valiquette was taken 190th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. A graduate of the OHL's Sudbury Wolves, Valiquette played four season in the OHL with a brief stint in Erie during his final year.

Although he was drafted by Los Angeles, the netminder from Etobicoke, Ontario never seemed to fit in with the club and eventually signed as a free agent with the New York Islanders. After toiling in the ECHL and AHL for a couple years, Valiquette made his NHL debut with the Islanders during the 99-2000 season and went on to play in a career high six games with the club before moving returning to the AHL for the next three seasons.

After stops in Trenton (ECHL), Providence (AHL), Lowell (AHL) and New York (NHL), Valiquette moved on to Springfield (AHL) and Bridgeport Sound (AHL) before getting another opportunity to play in the NHL. Acquired by the Edmonton Oilers organization prior to the 2003-04 season, Valiquette spent the better part of the year with the team's AHL affiliate in Toronto before getting the call from the parent club. Valiquette's stay with the Oilers organization lasted the better part of the 2003-04 season before he was dealt to the New York Rangers.
