Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Patrick DesRochers
Patrick Desrochers was born October 27, 1979 in Penetanguishene, Ontario. The first round, 14th overall selection of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Desrochers is a graduate of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Penetanguishene, Ontario native spent three complete seasons in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting before being dealt to the Kingston Frontenacs at the beginning of the 1998-99 season. An aggressive and competitive goaltender with good size, who takes away most of the net on his feet or on his knees, Desrochers led all OHL goalies in shutouts during the 1996-97 season with four and posted a team record 3.46 GAA, while representing Sarnia at the 1997 OHL All-Star Game before establishing a career high in wins with 26 the following year. With his 26 wins Desrochers ranked 6th in the OHL amongst all goaltenders and participated in the 1998 CHL Top Prospects Game.

DesRochers made his professional debut in 99-2000 with the Coyotes AHL affiliate in Springfield and finished with a 21-17-7 record 3.03 GAA and .907 save percentage.

Following a successful rookie campaign, DesRochers returned to Springfield in 2000-01 and spent the majority of the 2001-02 season in the AHL while playing in a handful of games with the Coyotes throughout the season. Desrochers started the 2002-03 season with Springfield, but a trade to the Carolina Hurricanes organization saw him split time between the NHL club and their AHL affiliate the Lowell Lock Monsters.

In the summer of 2004, DesRochers was acquired by the Florida Panthers.
