Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Glen Metropolit
Right-winger Glen Metropolit entered his third NHL season with the Washington Capitals organization in 2001-02. He was a top scorer as an amateur but saw most of his ice time in the pros at the minor league level.

The Toronto native starred with Richmond Hill of the MTHL and the BCJHL's Vernon Lakers but he failed to catch the eye of an NHL team. He scored 30 goals as a rookie pro with the WCHL's Nashville Knights and was also a top IHL performer before signing as a free agent with Washington in July, 1999. During his first two seasons with the club he was a tireless grinder and decent playmaker in the AHL and provided energy and grit when recalled to the NHL on occasion.

Metropolit would spend the next three seasons competing overseas in Finland and Switzerland prior to signing as a free agent with the Atlanta Thrashers in the Summer of 2006.

Metropolit's stint with the Thrashers was short lived. After 57 games with the club he was dealt to the St. Louis Blues with a pair of draft picks for Keith Tkachuk just days prior to the NHL trading deadline. He appeared in 20 games with the Blues and in the summer of 2007 signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Boston Bruins. As a member of the Bruins he tallied 33 points and helped get the Bruins back into the NHL playoffs.

In the summer of 2008, Metropolit was once again on the move after the Toronto, Ontario native signed with the Philadelphia Flyers on July 1, 2008.
