Petr Tenkrat was born May 31, 1977 in Kladno, Czech Republic. The eighth round, 280th overall selection of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Tenkrat played in the Czech Republic and Finland before making his North American debut in 2000-01.

Upon his arrival in North America, Tenkrat spent parts of two seasons with the Anaheim organization splitting his time with the Ducks and their AHL affiliate in Cincinnati before being acquired by the Nashville Predators in the early stages of the 2001-02 season. As a member of the Nashville Predators, Tenkrat played in 58 games registering 24 points (8G-16A)while playing a handful of games with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals.

Tenkrat returned to Europe in 2002-03 as a member of Karpat Olu of the Finnish Elite League. The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired the rights for the right winger however would trade him to the Boston Bruins in the summer of 2006. He spent the majority of his time in Boston on the wing and struggled to produce any offence on a club that missed the playoffs. The following year Tenkrat signed as a free agent with Timra in Sweden.
