Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Todd Rohloff
Todd Rohloff was born January 16, 1974 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. A free agent signing by the Washington Capitals prior to the 2000-01 season, Rohloff is a graduate of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's Miami-Ohio Redskins.

The defenseman from Grand Rapids, Minnesota spent four seasons at Miami-Ohio before signing as a free agent with the IHL's Indianapolis Ice at the end of his senior year in 1997-98. Rohloff went on to play a handful of games with the Ice that year before splitting the following between the Ice and the AHL's Portland Pirates.

Known primarily as a defensive defenseman, Rohloff found himself with the IHL's Cleveland Lumberjacks in 1999-2000 and his solid play throughout the season caught the attention of Caps management who signed him as a free agent during the off-season.

In his first two seasons with the Caps organization, Rohloff found himself in familiar surroundings, suiting up for the team's AHL affiliate in Portland while playing in 16 games with the parent club in 2001-02. Prior to returning to the AHL in 2002-03, Rohloff was named to the United-States World Championship team. In the summer of 2003, Rohloff signed as a free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets and after splitting the early portion of the 2003-04 season between Columbus and the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, Rohloff was put on waivers and claimed by the Caps.

Upon his return Washington the former Miami-Ohio rearguard went on to play at the time a career-high 35 games. In the summer of 2005, Rohloff was acquired by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
