Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Keith Aldridge
Defenseman Keith Aldridge comes from a hockey family. His father was outbid by Mike Illitch in an effort to buy the Detroit Red Wings and he and his brothers all grew up playing the game, though Keith enjoyed the most success. He had a highly decorated collegiate career on the blue line of Lake Superior State that saw him twice named an All American as well as multiple All-Star selections. Aldridge also helped lead his club to NCAA Championship and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. After graduation Aldridge turned professional with the American Hockey League's Baltimore Bandits. After one full-season with them he moved on the International Hockey League and joined the Detroit Vipers.

Aldridge fit in well with the Vipers, who were defending Turner Cup Champions, and the defenseman's 34-point performance helped lead them back to the Finals that spring, though they fell to the Chicago Wolves. Aldridge improved his output the following campaign with 15 goals and 28 assists, both career highs. His solid performance in the IHL caught the attention of the Dallas Stars who signed the defenseman in September of 1999.

The bulk of his first season with an NHL contract with spent with their IHL affiliate in Michigan, but he did get a four game audition in Dallas. Aldridge was unable to turn any heads during his scoreless stint with the Stars and he soon found himself back in the minors.

The 2000-01 season was split between the IHL's Grand Rapids Griffins and the Frankfurt Lions, a club team in Germany. Aldridge enjoyed his time in Deutschland and signed on for another season in July of 2001, this time with Eisbaren Berlin.
