Libor Pivko was born March 29, 1980 in Novy Vicin, Czech Republic. The fourth choice, 89th overall selection of the Nashville Predators in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Pivko honed his skills in the Czech Republic before making his North American debut in 2003-04.
An offensively gifted forward, Pivko captured a gold medal with the Czech Republic at the 2000 World Junior Championships, scoring the winning and the games only goal in the team's victory over Russia. In 2003-04, Pivko made his NHL debut with Nashville, yet spent the majority of the season with the AHL, helping the Milwaukee Admirals capture the Calder Cup title.
In the Summer of 2006, Pivko and Dominic Moore were sent to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
