Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ryan Caldwell
Ryan Caldwell was born June 15, 1981 in Deloraine, Manitoba. The seventh round, 202nd overall selection of the New York Islanders in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Caldwell is a graduate of the USHL's Thunder Bay Flyers.

A solid defenseman with offensive skills, Caldwell went on to play four seasons at the University of Denver capturing an NCAA title in 2004. During his four years at the school, Caldwell registered 90 points (28-62-90) before making his professional debut with the Islanders AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2004-05. For the better part of two seasons, Caldwell continued to hone his skills in the AHL, while getting his first taste of the NHL in the latter stages of the 2005-06 season.

In October of 2006, Caldwell was sent to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Eric Boguniecki. The following season he would skate with the Jackets' AHL affiliate in Syracuse, tallying 30 points. He found himself again on the move in the summer of 2007, signing as a free agent with Wayne Gretzky's Phoenix Coyotes.
