Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Mike Matteucci
Mike Matteucci was born December 27, 1971 in Trail, B.C. A graduate of the SJHL's Estevan Bruins, Matteucci enrolled at Lake Superior State University in the fall of 1992 and went to play four season in Sault Ste. Marie, MI before making his professional debut with the IHL's Long Beach Ice Dogs following his senior year at Lake Superior State.

A hard-nosed defenceman who takes care of his own end, Matteucci went on to play four seasons with the Ice Dogs while signing as a free agent with the Edmonton Oilers in the fall of 1998. The Trail, B.C. native never played for the Oilers and was later dealt to the Boston Bruins in December of 1999. Upon the completion of the 1999-00 season, Matteucci signed as a free agent with the Expansion Minnesota Wild. Although he spent the majority of the season's with the IHL's Cleveland Lumberjacks, Matteucci impressed the Minnesota brass enough to warrant three games that year with the big club. Matteucci played another three games the following year with the Wild, while spending the better part of the year with the team's AHL affiliate in Houston.

In the summer of 2002, Matteucci signed as a free agent with the New Jersey Devils and in his first year with the organization was a member of the team's AHL affiliate in Albany.
