Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jay McClement
Jay McClement was born March 2, 1983 in Kingston, Ontario. The second round, 57th overall selection of the St. Louis Blues in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, McClement is a graduate of the OHL's Brampton Battalion.

An all around solid forward, McClement played four years in Brampton registering 182 points (91-91-182) before making his professional debut with the AHL's Worcester IceCats in the spring of 2003.

Over the course of the next two seasons, McClement continued to hone his skills in Worcester before making his NHL debut with St. Louis during the 2005-06 season.

On the international stage McClement helped Team Canada capture a silver medal at the 2003 World Junior Championship, and won gold at the 2007 World Championships.

In St. Louis, McClement established himself as a legitimate two-way NHL centreman. He inked a three-year deal with the club on May 26, 2009, but his time with the Blue would be cut short. He was traded to the Colorado Avalanche on February 19, 2011 along with Erik Johnson in exchange for Chris Stewart and Kevin Shattenkirk.

McClement played two seasons in Colorado before leaving as a free agent to join the Toronto Maple Leafs, who signed him to a two year contract.

With the Maple Leafs, McClement was a productive penalty killer and reliable defensive player. He found himself a free agent in the summer of 2014 and signed a deal with the Carolina Hurricanes on July 1.
