Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Pascal Leclaire
Pascal Leclaire was born November 7, 1982 in Repentigny, Quebec. The first pick, eighth overall selection of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Leclaire is a graduate of the QMJHL.

A member of Team Canada's Silver Medal winning team at the 2002 World Junior Championships, Leclaire played four seasons in the QMJHL with Halifax and Montreal before making his professional debut in 2002-03.

The netminder from Repentigny, Quebec, went on to play the better part of two seasons with the Blue Jackets AHL affiliate in Syracuse before making his NHL debut during the 2003-04 season. After struggling in his rookie season with a 8-21-3 record, Leclaire rebounded in 2003-04 with a 21-16-3 record.

Internationally, aside from his appearance at the 2002 World Junior Championship, Leclaire represented Canada at the 2008 World Championships and earned a silver medal.

With the emergence of upstart goaltender Steve Mason and after being plagued by injuries in Columbus, Leclaire was deemed expendable by the Blue Jackets and was traded to Ottawa at the 2009 trade deadline in exchange for Antoine Vermette
