Jason Bacashihua was born September 20, 1982 in Garden City, Michigan. The first round, 26th overall selection of the Dallas Stars in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Bacashihua played one season of major junior hockey with the OHLs Plymouth Whalers before making his professional debut with the AHLs Utah Grizzlies in the spring of 2001.
Following an impressive season with the Whalers which included 26 wins, a 2.34 GAA and five shutouts, Bacashihua joined Utah for the post season. Over the course of the next two seasons the Garden City, MI native continued to hone his skills in Utah before having his rights acquired by the St. Louis Blues in the summer of 2005.
Upon his arrival with the Blues organization, Bacashihua spent the better part of his first two seasons with the club's AHL affiliate in Worcester before seeing his first NHL action with St. Louis during the 2005-06 season. The following season Bacashihua split his year between the Blues and their AHL affilaite in Peoria. With the rebulding St. Louis Blues, he appeared in 19 games and posted a 3-7-2. The following season, he failed to make the team out of traning camp, and was sent back to Peoria.
On November 8, 2007, Bacashihua was traded to the Colorado Avalanche for a draft pick, and assigned Lake Erie.
