Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Richard Petiot
Richard Petiot was born August 20, 1982 in Daysland, Alberta. The fourth round, 116th overall selection of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Petiot is a graduate of the AJHL's Camrose Kodiaks.

A solid defenseman, Petiot enrolled at Colorado College in the fall of 2001 and went on to play four seasons with the club before making his professional debut with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs in 2005-06. Despite playing the majority of the season in Manchester, the Daysland AB. native went on to make his NHL debut with the Kings during that same season.

Signed as a free agent by Toronto in 2008, the Maple Leafs shipped Petiot to the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 4, 2009 in exchange for Olaf Kolzig, Jamie Heward and a fourth round draft pick.

In the summer of 2009, as an unrestricted free agent, Petiot would be on the move again. This time signing with the Chicago Blackhawks.
