Christoph Schubert was born February 5, 1982 in Munich, Germany. The fourth round, 127th overall selection of the Ottawa Senators in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Schubert honed his skills in his homeland before making his North American debut in 2002-03.
An offensive defenseman, Schubert suited up for Munich in the DEL and was named the leagues top rookie in 2000-01. A member of Germany's World Junior (2000), Olympic (2002), World Championship (2002) and World Cup teams (2004), Schubert skated for three seasons in the AHL with Binghamton before making his NHL debut with Ottawa in 2005-06.
Aside from his World Junior experience, Schubert represented his homeland at the 2002, 2005 and 2008 World Championships, the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics, and the World Cup in 2004.
On October 2, 2009, Schubert was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Thrashers.
