Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Maxim Kondratiev
Maxim Kondratiev was born January 20, 1983 in Togliatti, Russia. The seventh choice, 168th overall selection of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Kondratiev honed his skills in Russia before making his North American debut in 2003-04

A steady rearguard, Kondratiev spent four seasons with Togliatti and has represented his homeland twice at the World Junior Championships (2002-2003), capturing gold on both occasions. With injuries to the Maple Leaf blue line in the early stages of the 2003-04 season, Kondratiev got his first taste of the NHL. After only seven games with the Maple Leafs and the better part of the season in the AHL with St. John's, Kondratiev was packaged in a deal that landed New York Rangers defenceman Brian Leetch in Toronto. Kondratiev never played for the Ranger organization in 2003-04. Opting to return and finish the season with his former club team, Togliatti.

In 2004-05, Kondratiev split his time between Togliatti and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack before making his Ranger debut in 2005-06. Despite seeing his first action with New York, the rearguard spent the majority of his playing time in the AHL before having his rights acquired by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in exchange for the Petr Sykora.
