David Printz was born July 24, 1980 in Stockholm, Sweden. The seventh round, 225th overall selection of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Printz honed his skills in his homeland before making his North American debut in 2004-05.
A hulking defenseman, Printz spent the early part of his career with AIK Solna before joining the Flyers AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms for the 2004-05 season. Following a solid rookie campaign in which the Phantoms captured the AHL Calder Cup title, Printz returned to the Phantoms in 2005-06 and saw his offensive totals improve, finishing the regular season with 20 points (6-14-20) while impressing the Flyers brass enough to warrant a call up to the parent club in the latter stages of the season.
Following a pair of split seasons with the Flyers and their AHL affiliate, Printz returned to his homeland in 2007, signing as a free agent with Djurgarden in Sweden.
