Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Milan Jurcina
Milan Jurcina was born June 7, 1983 in Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia. The eighth round, 241st overall selection of the Boston Bruins in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Jurcina is a graduate of the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads.

A solid defenseman, Jurcina played three seasons in Halifax before making his professional debut with the AHL's Providence Bruins during the 2003-04 season. After two strong seasons in the AHL, Jurcina made his NHL debut with Boston during the 2005-06 season.

By the start of the 2006-07 season, Jurcina had become a regular in the Bruin line-up. However, in February of 2007 he was dealt to the Washington Capitals for a 4th round selection in 2008.

Jurcina and Chris Clark were traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets on December 28, 2009, for winger Jason Chimera, though Ohio would be a temporary stop for the defenseman. He was traded back to the Capitals on March 3, 2010, the NHL's trade deadline.

On July 2, 2010, Jurcina signed a 1-year contract with the New York Islanders as an unrestricted free agent.
