Ivan Majesky was born September 2, 1976 in Banska Bystricia, Slovakia. The ninth round, 267th overall selection of the Florida Panthers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Majesky honed his skills in Slovakia and the Finnish Elite League before making his North American debut in 2002-03.

A hulking defenseman, Majesky represented his homeland at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and helped them capture a bronze medal at the 2003 World Championships. The 2002-03 season marked Majesky's rookie season in the NHL. A durable defender who showed some offensive potential, Majesky tallied 12 points (4-8-12) before being dealt to the Atlanta Thrashers in the summer of 2003.

In 2003-04, Majesky was limited to 63 games with the Thrashers, while representing his homeland for the second time at the 2004 World Championships in Prague, Czech Republic.

In the summer of 2004, the Thrasher forward suited up for Slovakia's World Cup team and in the spring of 2005 returned to the Worlds' before being acquired by the Washington Capitals prior to the 2004-05 season.

Majesky would return to international competition as the defenceman suited up in the 2006 Olympics representing Slovakia.
