Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Wade Brookbank
Wade Brookbank was born September 29, 1977 in Lanigan, Saskatchewan. A free-agent signing by the Ottawa Senators in 2001, Brookbank is a graduate of the SJHL.

After suiting up for Melville in the SJHL, Brookbank, a hard-nosed defenceman signed as a free agent with the WCHLs Anchorage Aces in 1997-98 and went to play parts of two seasons with the team before joining the CHLs Oklahoma City Blazers for the better part of the next two seasons. In 114 games with Oklahoma City, Brookbank accumulated 621 penalty minutes before graduating to the IHL in the latter stages of the 2000-01 season. As a member of the Orlando Solar Bears, Brookbank racked up 122 penalty minutes in a mere 29 games.

After signing with Ottawa Senators in the summer of 2001, Brookbank played the next two seasons with the teams AHL affiliates in Grand Rapids and Binghamton before making his NHL debut in 2003-04. The former Melville junior was claimed in the 2003 waiver draft by the Nashville Predators and went on to split the early part of the season with the Preds and their AHL affiliate in Milwaukee before landing in Vancouver for the remainder of the season.

Following 32 games with the Canucks, Brookbank would be signed as a free agent with the Boston Bruins. Brookbank's time in Boston lasted only 7 games as the club would trade him to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for future considerations. He spent the remainder of his season with the Penguins' AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Bare before he signed in the off-season as a free agent with the Carolina Hurricanes.
