Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jakub Klepis
Jakub Klepis was born June 6, 1985 in Prague, Czech Republic. The first round, 16th overall selection of the Ottawa Senators in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Klepis honed his skills in his homeland before making his North American debut in 2001-02.

An offensively gifted forward, Klepis played one season in the WHL with the Portland Winter Hawks registering 64 points (14-50-64) before opting to return to the Czech Republic after the season. For two more seasons Klepis continued to hone his skills in his homeland before having his player rights dealt to the Buffalo Sabres in February, 2003.

In March of 2004, the former first rounder was acquired by the Washington Capitals and in the fall of that same year went on to make his professional debut with the AHL's Portland Pirates. After registering 27 points (13-14-27) in his rookie season, Klepis went on to make his NHL debut during the 2005-06 season despite playing the majority of the season in the AHL with the Hershey Bears. Klepis went on to win the Calder Cup with the Bears that season.

Klepis has represented his homeland at the 2008 World Championships and the World Juniors (2003-2004).
