Jonas Johansson was born March 18, 1984 in Jonkoping, Sweden. The first round, 28th overall selection of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Johannson honed his skills in his homeland before joining the WHL's Kamloops Blazers in 2002-03.
Despite missing the majority of his first season with the Blazers in 2002-03, Johansson still managed to register 35 points in 26 points and finish his two-year career in the WHL with 72 points (28-44-72). In the early stages of the 2004-05 season, Johansson was dealt to the Washington Capitals and spent the majority of his first season with the AHL's Portland Pirates while playing a handful of games with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays.
In 2005-06, Johansson continued to toil in both the AHL and the ECHL before being summoned by the Caps in the latter stages of the season.
