Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Tomas Fleischmann
Tomas Fleischmann was born May 16th, 1984 in Koprivinice, Czech Republic. The second round, 63rd overall selection of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Fleischmann honed his skills in the WHL with Vitkovice & Novy Jicin of the Czech-Jr. League.

In his first season of North American hockey Fleischmann appeared in 65 games with Moose Jaw of the WHL recording 71 points, good for second on the team in points and assists. Fleischmann's second season with Moose Jaw saw his point total increase to 75 points in only 60 games.

Following his junior career, Fleischmann went on to compete in 53 games with the Portland Pirates of the AHL finishing 12th on the team in scoring with 19 points. In his second professional season Fleischmann saw NHL action lacing up with the Washington Capitals for 14 games while splitting the season with the Hershey Bears of the AHL. Although the Capitals missed the playoffs in 2005-06 Flischmann continued to compete with the Hersey Bears and led the team in playoff goal scoring as the team captured the 2006 Calder Cup Championship.

On the international stage, Fleischmann represented Czech Republic at the 2002-03 & 2003-2004 World Junior Championships, 2008 World Championships and the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

On November 30, 2010, Fleischmann was traded to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for defenseman Scott Hannan.

Fleischmann's time in Colorado would be brief. He recorded 21 points in 22 games, but his season would be cut short due to a pulmonary embolism.

In the summer of 2011, as an unrestricted free agent, Fleischmann signed with the Florida Panthers.

With pending unrestricted free agency looming for Fleischmann, the Panthers traded him to the Anaheim Ducks for Dany Heatley and a third round draft pick on February 28, 2015.

Fleischmann finished the season in Anaheim and during the 2015 offseason he signed a one year contract with the Montreal Canadiens on October 4, 2015. Fleischmann's time in Montreal would be short-live however. After just 57 games in which he recorded 10 goals and 10 assists he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks along with Dale Weise in exchange for a second round draft pick and Philip Danault.
