Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Joey Mormina
Joey Mormina was born June 29, 1983 in Montreal, Quebec. The Flyers' sixth round, 193rd overall selection in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Mormina is a graduate of Colgate University.

A rugged defenseman, Mormina capped off his four-year stint at Colgate University by registering 8 goals, 8 assists for 16 points through 39 games. Upon his graduation from Colgate, Mormina would sign as a free agent with the Los Angeles Kings and suit up with their AHL affiliate in Manchester for his first season of pro hockey. After a penalty filled sophomore season in Manchester, Mormina would sign as a free agent with the Carolina Hurricanes and go on to make his NHL debut in a February 14, 2008 contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ironically, just under five months later, the Penguins signed the rearguard as a free agent.
