Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Alexandre Picard
Alexandre Picard was born July 5, 1985 in Gatineau, Quebec. The third round, 85th overall selection of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Picard is a graduate of the QMJHL.

A hulking defenseman, Picard played four seasons in the QMJHL with stops in Halifax and Cape Breton registering 122 points (31-91-122). Following a solid junior career, Picard made his professional debut with the AHL's Philadelphia Phantoms during the club's run to the 2005 Calder Cup title.

After getting a taste of the AHL in 2005, Picard joined the Phantoms on a regular basis in 2005-06 and would go on to make his NHL debut with the Flyers later that season. The following year Picard would spend the majority of his time competing with the Flyers' AHL affilate and appear in six games with his parent club. During that season, Picard tallied five assists in a single game against the New Jersey Devils on February 1, 2007, nearly tying the franchise record set by Eric Lindros. Picard returned to the AHL in 2007-08 and appeared in four games with the Flyers prior to being dealt to the Tampa Bay Lightning on February 25, 2008.

On February 12, 2010, Picard was sent to the Carolina Hurricanes along with a second round draft pick in exchange for forward Matt Cullen.
