Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Lauri Korpikoski
Lauri Korpikoski was born July 28, 1986 in Turku, Finland. The first round, 19th overall selection of the New York Rangers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Korpikoski honed his skills in his homeland with TPS Turku prior to his arrival in North America.

A creative winger, Korpikoski made his professional hockey debut in 2005-06, appearing in five regular season and eleven playoff games with Hartford, following his season with TPS Turku. Over the next two seasons, the product of Finland would compete in 157 games with the Rangers' AHL affiliate in Hartford and make his NHL debut with the blueshirts in their Eastern Conference Semi Final on May 4, 2007.

In the summer of 2009, Korpikoski was dealt from the bright lights of New York to the desert, joining the ailing Phoenix Coyotes.

On June 30, 2015, Korpikoski was traded to the Edmonton Oilers for Boyd Gordon. After only one year in Edmonton, Korpikoski was placed on unconditional waivers by the Oilers and the final year of his contract was bought out.

As an unrestricted free agent, Korpikoski signed a deal with the Dallas Stars prior to the 2016-17. He found a home on the Stars checking line and contributed eight goals and 12 assists in 60 games, before he was on the move once more. On March 1, 2017, Korpikoski was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Dillon Heatherington.
