Mark Fistric was born June 1, 1986 in Edmonton, Alberta. The first round, 28th overall selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Fistric spent parts of five seasons in the Western Hockey League.

As a member of the Vancouver Giants in the WHL, Fistric recorded his best offensive season in 2005-06. That same season, Fistric collected 10 points and helped his club to the WHL Championship. He made his professional hockey debut a year later, splitting his time between Dallas and Iowa of the NHL and AHL respectively.

Traded to Edmonton by Dallas for Edmonton's 3rd round pick (Niklas Hansson) in 2013 NHL Draft, January 14, 2013. Signed as a free agent by Anaheim, August 20, 2013. Missed majority of 2013-14 as a healthy reserve and due to lower-body injury vs. Los Angeles, March 15, 2014.
