Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Alex Stalock
Goaltender Alex Stalock was born on July 28, 1987 in South St. Paul, Minnesota. He was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fourth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Stalock attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth where he excelled for three seasons, earning WCHA First All-Star Team and NCAA West First All-American Team honours in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

Stalock made his professional debut for the Sharks' AHL affiliate in Worcester during the 2009-10 season where he immediatyly showed he belonged. In 61 games, Stalock posted 39 wins and an impressive 2.63 goals-against-average.

On February 1, 2011, Stalock made his NHL debut. In just over 29 minutes of play, Stalock stopped all the shots he faced en route to a victory against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Early into the 2011-12 season, Stalock suffered a sliced nerve behind his knee after being stepped on by a skate. The injury and subsequent surgery kept him out of action for almost a full year.

2013-14 would be Stalock's best in San Jose. In 24 games he posted a 12-5-2 record with a 1.87 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage. He would continue to serve as the Shark's backup goaltender until 2016 when he was traded in the days leading up to the NHL trade deadline to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was subsequently assigned to the Marlies of the American Hockey League where he would finish the season.
