Raymond Macias was born on September 18, 1986 in Long Beach, California. He played junior hockey in the WHL for the Kamloops Blazers, putting up impressive numbers and even being named to the CHL All-Rookie team in 2004.

Drafted 124th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in 2005, he was assigned to the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL and from there would join the ECHLs Johnston Chiefs for their playoff run.

In 2009, Macias received his first call to the NHL, he made his debut in a game versus the Phoenix Coyotes. In all, he would appear in six games for Colorado, recording an assist.
