Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Patric Hornqvist
Patric Hornqvist was born on January 1, 1987 in Sollentuna, Sweden. He was selected by the Nashville Predators at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and holds the distinction of being the last player selected at that draft.

Though he spent the majority of the 2008-09 with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, Hornqvist did get his first taste of NHL life, appearing in 28 games.

Hornqvist played six seasons in Nashville, including the 2009-10 season where he set a career high in goals with 30 and scored 51 points in 80 games.

At the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Hornqvist, along with Nick Spaling, was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins for James Neal. Hornqvist would spend much of the 2014-15 season playing alongside Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz on the Penguins' top line. In 64 games, he scored 25 times and added 26 assists.

Hornqvist would appear in all 82 games for the Penguins during the 2015-16 season. He would also suit up in all 24 of the club's post-season games, playing a key role in the Penguins march to the Stanley Cup championship. His nine goals were second most amongst Penguin players.

The following season Hornqvist would surpass the 20-goal plateau for the seventh time in his career, finding the back of the net 21 times and adding 23 assists. He would also help the Penguins to their second consecutive Stanley Cup title, scoring the Cup-winning goal against his former team, the Nashville Predators.
