Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Michael Frolik
Michael Frolík was born on February 17, 1988 in Kladno, Czechoslovakia. A talented prospect for HC Rabat Kladno in the Czech Extraliga, he earned the nickname "Baby Jagr" due to his playing style and physical similarities.

In 2006, the Florida Panthers selected him 10th overall and Frolik decided to move to Canada to learn the North American game. He played the next two seasons with the Oceanic of the QMJHL and continued to put the puck in the net with great regularity.

In 2008-09, Frolik had a very successful rookie season. He scored 21 times for the Panthers and was among the leaders in rookie scoring.

After two successful offensive seasons in Florida, Frolik's production tailed off during the 2010-11 campaign. With just eight goals in 52 games, the Panthers deemed him expendable and traded the crafty winger to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Jack Skille, Hugh Jessiman and David Pacan.

Frolik and the Blackhawks would dominate the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, rolling through the NHL's regular season and capturing the Presidents' Trophy.

The playoffs were more of the same and though pushed to the limit by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round, the Blackhawks would prevail and eventually earn the fifth Stanley Cup title in franchise history, the first in Frolik's career.

In the summer of 2013 Frolik's time in Chicago would come to an end. He was traded to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a pair of draft picks.

On July 1, 2015, Frolik would sign a five year contract with the Calgary Flames. In 64 games for the Flames during the 2015-16 season, Frolik scored 15 times and added 17 assists.
