Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Chris Summers
Chris Summers was born on February 5, 1988 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A product of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program, Summers was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the first round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and then attended the University of Michigan.

Following his senior year at the University of Michigan Summers signed a two-year contract with the Coyotes. He was then assigned to the club's AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

Summers spent the majority of the 2010-11 season with San Antonio, but would see action in two NHL games for the Coyotes. The following year, Summers suited up for 21 games for Phoenix, recording the first three assists of his NHL career.

On March 1, 2015, Summers time in the Coyotes organization would come to an end. He was traded along with Keith Yandle and a draft pick to the New York Rangers in exchange for John Moore, Anthony Duclair, and a pair of draft picks. Summers would spend two seasons in the Rangers organization, predominantly with their AHL affiliate before signing as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 1, 2017.
