After three seasons in Columbus, the Blue Jackets would trade Anisimov along with Mark Dano and Corey Tropp to the Chicago Blackhawks for Brandon Saad, Alex Broadhurst and Michael Paliotta. Upon arriving with the Blackhawks he would sign a five year extension with the team.

During the 2015-16 season, Anisimov would reach the 20-goal plateau for the second time in his career. He would also add 22 assists and his 42 points were sixth most amongst Blackhawks players.
