Kaspars Daugavins was born on May 18, 1988. The native of Latvia was selected in the third round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators and moved to Canada to join the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey League prior to the 2006-07 season.
After splitting time between the Majors and the Senators' AHL affiliate in Binghamton during the next two seasons, Kaspars made his NHL debut on January 14, 2010 in a game against the New York Rangers.
Daugavins has represented his homeland of Latvia on the international stage on numerous occasions including in 2006, when as a 17-year-old, he became the youngest player ever to play for Latvia at the World Championships as well as at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
