Dean Arsene was born on July 20, 1980 in Murrayville, British Columbia. Though undrafted, he be gan his professional career in the ECHL before finding a home with the Hershey Bears of the AHL. In his six season with the Bears he was part of two Calder Cup championships.

Following his second Calder Cup, Arsene was signed by the Edmonton Oilers. Though he failed to make the club out of training camp, he did serve as the AHL's Springfield Falcons captain for most of the season. Finally, after years of toiling in the minors, Arsene made his NHL debut with the Oilers in 2009 and would appear in 13 games for the club.

On August 11, 2010, Arsene signed one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues.
