Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ryan Carter
Ryan Carter was born August 3, 1983 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Undrafted, the centreman spent a pair of seasons with the Green Bay Gamblers before he arrived at Minnesota State.

The strong power forward completed his two-year stint at Minnesota State by scoring 35 points (19 goals, 16 assists) in 39 games and was one of the club's better two-way forwards. After the Ducks signed him in the summer of 2006, Carter appeared in 76 with the club's AHL affiliate in Portland. He joined the Ducks for the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs, appearing in four games which included one Stanley Cup Final contest.

Carter's 2007-08 season in Anaheim was cut short when he fractured his right wrist in a February 20, 2008 game against the Avalanche. He also spent 13 games with the Portland Pirates of the AHL that season.

On November 23, 2010 Carter was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Matt Kennedy and Stefan Chaput. Later in the 2010-11 season Carter was on the move again. This time traded to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Cory Stillman in the days leading up to the 2011 NHL trade deadline.

At the beginning of the 2011-12 season, Carter was claimed off waivers from the Panthers on October 26, 2011.

Carter played three years with the Devils, including a run to the 2012 Stanley Cup Final where they eventually lost in six games to the Los Angeles Kings. In that playoff season, Carter posted five goals and seven points.

On October 6, 2014, Carter was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Minnesota Wild.
