Goaltender CÚdrick Desjardins was born on September 30, 1985 in Edmunston, New Brunswick. Desjardins had a successful junior career which included two trips to the Memorial Cup final. In the 2006 Memorial Cup championship game, he stopped 46 of 48 shots en route to the title and was also awarded the Hap Emms Memorial Trophy as the tournament's most valuable goaltender.

In the summer of 2006 Desjardins would sign as an unrestricted free agent with the Hamilton Bulldogs, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. He would be assigned to the ECHL where he would make his professional debut for the Cincinnati Cyclones.

After two seasons bouncing between Cincinnati and Hamilton, Desjardins had an exceptional 2009-10 campaign in the AHL. He posted six shutouts and a 2.00 goals against average, was named to the AHL Second All-Star Team.

On August 16, 2010, Desjardins was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Karri Ramo. He would spend the majority of the season in the AHL, but made his NHL debut on December 30, 2010 against the Montreal Canadiens, beating his former franchise 4-1.

On July 8, 2011, Desjardins signed a one-year deal with the Colorado Avalanche. Avalanche and would spend the 2011-12 season with the Avalache's AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters. He appeared in 32 games for the Monsters, setting franchise records for save percentage and goal-against-average, while being selected to the 2012 All-Star game. He was recalled briefly by the Avalanche during the season to serve as backup goaltender, but did not play.

On July 1, 2012, Desjardins signed a one-year contract to return to his original NHL team, the Montreal Canadiens. His time in the Montreal organization would be short-lived however, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning on February 14, 2013 in exchange for fellow goaltender, Dustin Tokarski.
