Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Thomas Hickey
Thomas Hickey was born on February 8, 1989 in Calgary, Alberta. A standout defenceman for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League, Hickey was selected in the first round, fourth overall, by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Due to his outstanding defensive play Hickey was twice choses to represent Canada at the World Junior Championship (2008 & 2009) helping his country to the gold medal on both occasions.

Hickey would make his professional debut for the Kings' American Hockey League affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, in 2009. Injuries would plague much of Hickey's first full pro season, with a sprained ankle suffered the penultimate regular season game keeping the defender out of the lineup until the semi-series. The Monarchs would ultimately lose the series to the Hershey Bears with Hickey recording three assists in four games.

On January 15, 2013, Hickey was waived by the Kings and claimed by the New York Islanders. He would join the team during training camp prior to the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season.Hickey made his NHL debut with the Islanders on January 27, 2013. He would go on to appear in 39 games for New York during the 2012-13 season, scoring a goal and adding three assists.

Hickey would miss just one game for the Islanders during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons and recorded matching 22-point campaigns.
