Colton Gillies was born on February 12, 1989 in White Rock, Britsh Columbia and was the first round selection (16th overall) of the Minnesota Wild in 2007.

A mix of size and skill, like his third cousin, Clark Gillies, Colton is listed at 64 and 200 pounds. His final year in the WHL for the Saskatoon Blades was his most offensively productive, scoring 24 goals in just 58 games.

Gillies was selected to represent Canada at the 2008 World Junior Tournament in the Czech Republic, where Canada took home the gold medal.

Colton would appear in 45 games for Minnesota during the 2008-09 season, scoring twice.
