Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Nicholas Petrecki
Nick Petrecki was born on July 11, 1989, in Clifton Park, New York. He played two seasons with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL before being selected 28th overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Petrecki played collegiate hockey at Boston College, where he won the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship title in his first season with the team (2007-2008). During his time at BC he became well known for his strong defense as well as playing with a physical edge.

On March 30, 2009, Petrecki signed an NHL contract with the San Jose Sharks and joined the club's AHL affiliate, the Worcester Sharks, for the 2009-10 season. In Worchester, Petrecki would work to establish himself as a rugged rear guard, equally capable of dropping the gloves as defending his zone.

During the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, Petrecki would get his first taste of life in the NHL. He would suit up in a single game for San Jose, though he would not factor onto the score sheet.
