Milan Kytnár was born on May 19, 1989 in Topočany, Czechoslovakia. A product of the Western Hockey League, where he played for Kelowna, Saskatoon and Vancouver, he was selected in the fifth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.
Following his junior career Kytnár would join the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League for the 2010-11 season. In his first professional campaign he would record 13 goals and 16 assists in 78 games.
In 2011-12 Kytnár would get his first taste of NHL action. He was summoned by the Oilers and would appear in a single game, an overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils.
On February 1, 2012 Kytnár signed a deal with Hameenlinna of the Finnish Elite League.
In May of 2012, again a free agent, Kytnár signed with Bratislava of the KHL.
