Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jake Muzzin
Jacob Muzzin was born on February 21, 1989 in Woodstock, Ontario. A product of the Ontario Hockey League and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, he was selected in the fifth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Unable to come to terms with the Penguins, Muzzin signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Kings in January of 2010.

Muzzin made the Kings' opening night roster for the 2010-11 NHL season, but was assigned to the club's AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs early on in the season. After a brief recall to the Kings, Muzzin was again assigned to Manchester and would spend the remainder of the 2010-11 season in the American Hockey League.

In the 2012-13 NHL season, Muzzin proved that he belonged at the NHL level, playing in 45 of the lockout-shortnened 48 games, tallying seven goals and nine assists good for 16 points.

During the 2013-14 season, Muzzin was part of a Kings team that made it all the way through the playoffs to get to the 2014 Stanley Cup Final. The Kings would defeat the New York Rangers in five games to win the Stanley Cup. Despite the fact that this is Muzzin's first official Stanley Cup, he was on the roster when they had last won in 2012.

In the summer of 2016, Muzzin was part of the Canadian team at the World Cup of Hockey and helped his homeland to the gold medal.
