Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Patrick Maroon
Patrick Maroon was born on April 23, 1988 in St. Louis, Missouri. A product of first, the NAHL and then the OHL, Maroon was selected in the sixth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers.

Maroon made his professional debut in the American Hockey League for the Philadelphia Phantoms in the late stages of the 2007-08 season. He would join the club for the entire '08-09 season, recording 23 goals and adding 31 assists.

Maroon would spend the majority of the next four seasons at the American League level, where he would continue to establish himself as a power forward.

November 21, 2010, Maroon was traded with David Laliberte to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Rob Bordson and defenceman Danny Syvret. He would see action in two games for the Ducks during the 2011-12 season.

As a member of the Ducks, Maroon would prove to be a solid power forward. In 2013-14 he scored 11 times in 62 games while racking up 101 penalty minutes. The following year he would impress many with his post-season performance, scoring seven times in 16 games.

On February 29, 2016, the NHL's trade deadline, Maroon's time in Anaheim would come to an end. He was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Martin Gernat and a fourth round draft pick.

In his first full season in Edmonton, Maroon often found himself on the Oilers' top line alongside Connor McDavid. The pair had instant chemistry and Maroon's offensive totals reflected that. He netted 27 goals and 42 points, both career-highs.

The Oilers struggled during the 2017-18 season and sitting outside of a playoff position traded Maroon, a pending unrestricted free agent, at the NHL's trade deadline to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a third round draft pick and Joey Dudek.
