Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Paul Postma
Paul Postma was born on February 22, 1989 in Red Deer, Alberta. He began his junior career in the Western Hockey League with the Swift Current Broncos and was selected in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers. The following season his WHL rights were traded to the Calgary Hitmen where he took his offensive game to a new level. In 2008-09, Postma recorded 23 goals, most among all WHL defenders and a new Hitmen single-season record. In addition, his +67 rating was tops in the entre Western League and earned him a nomination for the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy as the league's top defenceman.

Postma would join the Thrashers AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves, for the 2009-10 season and would continue to produce impressive offensive stats. In his first professional season, the defender tallied 29 points in 63 games at the AHL level. Postma would get his first taste of NHL action on March 9, 2011 in a 3-2 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Thrashers would move to Winnipeg prior to the start of the 2011-12 and Postma would find himself splitting time with the newly named Jets and their AHL affiliate over the course of the next six seasons. He appeared in a career-high 65 games for the Jets during the 2016-17 season, recording a goal and adding 13 assists.

On July 1, 2017, Postma signed as a free agent with the Boston Bruins.
