Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jonas Hiller
Jonas Hiller was born February 12, 1982 in Felben Wellhausen, Switzerland. Undrafted, the netminder honed his skills with HC Davos in the Swiss League before he arrived in North America.

After setting a career-high in wins and being voted as the Swiss National League goaltender of the year, Hiller was signed as a free agent by the Anaheim Ducks on May 15, 2007. In his first season of hockey in North America, Hiller appeared in 23 games with the Ducks and six with their AHL affiliate in Portland.

In 2008-09, Hiller would begin the season splitting time in the Anaheim net with Jean Sebastien Giguere, but would eventually establish himself as the Ducks starting goaltender prior to the NHL playoffs. Hiller would play a vital role in the Ducks playoff success as they knocked off the President's Trophy winning San Jose Sharks and took the defending Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings to a full seven games.

On January 30, 2010, Hiller signed a four year extension with the Ducks, cementing his role as the club's starting goaltender.

At the conclusion of his four year contract with the Ducks, Hiller would sign a two year contract with the Calgary Flames, where he would share the net with Karri Ramo.
