Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Luca Sbisa
Luca Sbisa was born in Ozieri, Italy, but when he was just a year old his family moved to Switzerland. Perhaps because of this, Sbisa can speak four languages: English, German, Italian and French.

Sbisa began his junior career in Switzerland, but was drafted into the WHL by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the annual CHL import draft.

Drafted 19th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, he joined the club for 39 games before being returned to junior.

At the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Sbisa was part of the package sent by the Flyers to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for all-star Chris Pronger.

In his most recent campaign, Sbisa suited up in 41 games, recording a goal and 7 assists for 8 points for the Anaheim Ducks in the lockout-shortened season.

After splitting five seasons between the Ducks and the AHL, Sbisa, along with Nick Bonino and a first and third round draft pick was traded to the Vancouver Canucks for Ryan Kesler and a third round draft pick on June 27, 2014.
